Mayor’s plan for promoting girl child

Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Yogesh Behl,known for his penchant for hogging the limelight,has come up with a plan to improve the child sex ratio in town. After the Women and Child Welfare Department last week approved a proposal to make a fixed deposit of Rs 10,000 in the name of each girl child,the mayor said he favoured depositing Rs 25,000,which could go up to Rs 1,25,000. “This is only a proposal and will need the approval of the civic general body. I will place the proposal in the August general body,” he said. Behl said if a family has two girls,they will get Rs 20,000 for each. “This will certainly motivate the poor,” he said.

In-house Parivar bags Certificate of Merit

Parivar,the in-house journal of Tata Motors,Pune,has been conferred with a Certificate of Merit at the ICE Awards 2011. The Parivar was started in 1971 and is published in English and Marathi. It covers a range of topics including current events,technological developments in the company,safety and health information,interviews of senior managers,awards won by the company,employee achievements,environment related information,product information and information on achievements of employees’ families. The journal was started so that each employee gets a copy for his /her home thus making the employees’ families aware of what is happening in the company. The ICE (In-house Communication Excellence) Awards are hosted by the Shailaja Nair Foundation to recognize and reward in-house journals.

School drive for environment awareness

The Saraswati Vishwa Vidyalaya held a poster competition and a rally in Talawade to create environment awareness. The rally which started from the school went around Ganeshnagar area,where students distributed hand-made paper bags to shopkeepers and requested them to stop using plastic bags. School Chairman VIshwanath Nair said that sensitizing students on environment was the aim of the rally. “This programme focused on teaching students that small changes in their lifestyle can make a tremendous difference to conservation of the environment and improving life to make the world a better place.”

Tata Motors win sport tournament

Tata Motors emerged winners while Bajaj Auto Company were the runners-up in the Industrial Sports Tournament for 2010-11 organised by the Industrial Sports Association. This is the Golden Jubilee of the tournament. Prizes were distributed by Executive Director of Aanad Group of Companies Sandeep Baluja,Powertrain Dept. chief of TATA Motors J Wilson,Advisor of TATA Motors J K Tawade,Vice-President of Industrial Sports Association Rajiv Nageshkar,Sports Officer of TATA Motors Milind Gunjal and Sports Officer of Bajaj Auto Vasant Thombare. Forty companies including Thermax,Thyssen Krupp,Sandvik,Atlas Copco,and Ammunition Factory participated in the tournament which had 17 types of sports. Compiled by Manoj More
