The Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad branches of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy (IAP) recently organised a workshop on physiotherapy conducted by Dr Ali Irani,former physiotherapist of the Indian cricket team.
The workshop was held at Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital. Nearly 200 physiotherapists,other medical professionals and sport coaches attended the workshop. Some participants came all the way from Jalgaon,Aurangabad and Mumbai,said a press note issued here .
Senior general manager of Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital Rekha Dubey and the medical superintendent Dr Shrivastav were present.
Dr Irani explained how physiotherapy has flourished in India and the its importance. He highlighted the significance of physiotherapy to different sports.
Dr Irani also demonstrated different techniques for quick relief for neck pain,shoulder and back pain.
The workshop was of immense benefit for physiotherapists and other sport coaches and professionals, said physiotherapist Dr Jayashri Kotwal,convenor,Pimpri-Chinchwad branch of IAP.
Dr Meenakshi Pandit,Dr Jayashri Kotwal,Dr Apurv Shimpi,Dr Vivek Kulkarni Dr Tushar Palekar organised the workshop. Dr Anushri Phansalkar,Dr Gaurang Baxi,Dr Manvel Raj and Dr Bindu were also present,the note said.
