(File) In yet another case of suicide to support the cause of reservation for the Maratha community in Maharashtra, a man in Pune allegedly ended his life at a gas and stove repairs shop where he worked.
The police said the shop owner found 22-year-old Siddhesh Satyavan Barge of Chimbali village dead in his shop located in Pimpri Chinchwad on November 3.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandip Doifode said the police have recovered a suicide note in which Barge mentioned that he was taking the extreme step for the cause of reservation for the Maratha community and that nobody should be held responsible for his death.
Police have registered a case of accidental death at the Alandi police station and launched further investigation.
This is the second such incident in Pune amid the quota agitation. On October 27, 65-year-old Vyankat Narsinh Dhopare died by suicide at the Alandi Ghat following “frustration over his son’s unemployment” as mentioned in his suicide note.
The note mentioned that the man was disturbed over the lack of reservation for the Maratha community despite several agitation, many of which he had participated.
Police said that Dhopare was unsuccessful in securing a government job for his son after the death of his grandfather on compassionate grounds. Dhopare’s father had died while in service.
