One booked for rape,blackmail

The Shivajinagar police have booked one Girish Kulkarni for allegedly raping a 33-year-old married woman over a two- year period and taking obscene pictures of her.

The Shivajinagar police have booked one Girish Kulkarni for allegedly raping a 33-year-old married woman over a two- year period and taking obscene pictures of her. Police suspect he also created a fake profile of the victim on social networking site Orkut.

A case has been filed against Kulkarni,based on the victims complaint. SL Rokade,sub inspector,Shivajinagar police station,said,The woman is married since 2003,whereas the accused,Kulkarni is unmarried. The two knew each other for the past two years. The two were reportedly in a relationship for some time,he said.

During this time,the accused allegedly maintained physical relations with the complainant against her will by taking obscene pictures and threatening to show them to her husband.

Rokade added,We suspect that when the complainant started avoiding Kulkarni,he created her fake profile on Orkut through a fake e-mail address and posted obscene information about her on it.

Kulkarni has not been arrested yet. He has been booked under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code for rape and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act,2000 for publishing obscene information in electronic form.
