On Expressway,2 deaths in 2 days

According to the police,a jeep of IRB infrastructure company with four persons,including the IRB supervisor,in it was stationed on the Expressway near Devale bridge. Around 12 noon,a speeding car,with three passengers,going towards Pune rammed into the jeep.

In the impact,the jeep turned turtle and Chacko who was in the car died on the spot. The Lonavla police and a high safety patrol team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon,28-year-old Ruta Gaurav Shah of Padmavati in Pune died when the car he was traveling in collided with a tanker on the Expressway near Lonavla.

Ruta’s family members — Bharat Rahitlal Shah (60),Poonam Shah (58),Lina Shah (31) and a four-year-old girl — were injured. According to the police,the Shah family was going to Mumbai airport in a car to receive Ruta’s husband who was coming from London. The injured were admitted to the Lokmanya hospital in Nigdi.

3 killed in separate accidents in city
A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus ran over a cyclist Suresh Tatyaram Choudhary (20) at Dattanagar in Thergaon around 4.20 pm on Sunday. The Hinjewadi police have arrested the bus driver Ashok Kaluram Jadhav (32). The police said the PMPML bus was going towards Chinchwad from Dange chowk when it hit Choudhary from the rear. Though the local residents and police took Choudhary to Birla Hospital he succumbed around 5.40 pm.

In another accident,28-year-old motorcyclist Vikramsingh Rajpurohit,who was working as a marketing executive with a private company,was killed at Durganagar chowk in Akurdi on Sunday morning. The Nigdi police have lodged an offence against unidentified person. The police said Rajpurohit of Nigdi was riding towards Nigdi when an unknown vehicle knocked him down around 11.30 am,killing him on the spot.

A speeding truck collided with a motorcycle killing its rider Sandip Purushottam Gunjal (27) of Chinchwad around 11.40 pm on Sunday near Hafkin company in Pimpri on the Pune-Mumbai Highway. A complaint has been registered at Pimpri police station. The driver of the tanker escaped from the . Police sub inspector M S Savant is investigating.
