Now,a cricket memorabilia auction

Abil Foundation,part of the Pune-based ABIL Group,which is into real estate,infrastructure and the hospitality sector,will organise a cricket memorabilia auction to generate funds for ‘Anandwan- Forest of Joy’.

The cricket memorabilia auction,the first in the city,will include apparel and cricket equipments used by players like Sachin Tendulkar,Rahul Dravid,MS Dhoni,Virender Sehwag,Harbhajan Singh,Zaheer Khan,Irfan Pathan and Ashish Nehra. The auction will be graced by the presence of “The Wall” of the Indian team’s batting line-up,Rahul Dravid.

This gesture by the stars of the Indian cricket team signifies that they pounce on every opportunity to extend their co-operation towards the society in every possible way they can,said a press note.

Anandwan- Forest of Joy,through its Centre for Social & Environmental Action initiative,runs developmental activities in the Mulgavan village.

Mulgavan,a remote village in Jhari-Jamni Tehsil,was reeling under severe penury,disease and illiteracy and with recent deluge of farmer suicides,when Maharogi Sewa Samiti,Warora (MSS) made a rightful intervention in the region. On October 2,2006,on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti,Dr Vikas Amte,secretary and chief functionary of MSS,along with his ‘social army’ comprising deaf-mute,leprosy cured,orphans,unemployed youths and so on stepped onto the soil of Mulgavan and initiated relief and rescue operations on a war footing to benefit the populace of Mulgavan and hundreds of nearby villages,the note said.
