Teachers need to reach out to this under privileged group with devotion rather than isolate them in the class room. There is subtle discrimination against these children who do go to school but are ignored by the teachers who let them sit at the far end of the class room. At the same workshop,an impassioned plea was made by Suryakant Kulkarni, state representative of the national commission for protection of child rights,We need to start complaining to ensure justice for these children.”

Even as we say there are no disparities for darshans at Ganesh pandals, this might not stand true especially at Pune’s famous Ganpati mandals. As hordes of devotees wait in long queues, holding their offerings in hand braving rain and sun,a separate entry and seating arrangement for VVIPs,television and film actors catches your attention at these venues. As devotees wait in a long queues, politicians and important personalities clad in white ironed kurtas walk right across to the stage escorted by the mandal members. They are given the opportunity to give their offerings and are even escorted to a seat where they are offered tea and snacks.
