Patils injuries superficial,docs to conduct more tests
Doctors and patients at the busy Out Patient Department (OPD) of Sassoon Hospital watched in shock as Dayanand Bhaurao Patil was wheeled in around 8 pm onWednesday. The news of blasts had just broken and the sight of Patil with injuries apparently from shrapnel on his stomach had everyone scurrying to catch a glimpse.
One Dr Ekbote admitted Patil,who was taken to another section. The police then recorded his statement.
Dr Ajay Chandanwale,dean,Sassoon Hospital,said,Patil was brought in by the police. He has superficial multiple injuries on his stomach,chin and a burn injury on the upper eye lid. His pulse and blood pressure are normal. We will conduct X Ray,MRI ,CT scan and other tests. Only after the test reports will we be able to determine whether the injuries are deep and if any objects are lodged inside his body.
According to the doctors who were present when the police were recording his statement,Patil,a tailor who commutes between Pune and Urali kanchan,was on his way home and supposed to catch bus to Pune station. Dr D G Kulkarni,medical superintendent said,According to the police,he waited for a while at the Indian Against Corruption (IAC) fast venue and kept his plastic bag containing an empty tiffin and an empty water bottle nearby. When he got up to go,he picked up another bag. It was later that he realised the bag felt heavier than his own. When he tried to open it,the blast occurred.
