No invite for literary meet,corporators miffed

Elected representatives in the Pune Municipal Corporation on Thursday criticised the organisers of Maharashtra Sahitya Sammelan for not inviting them for the 83rd Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan despite giving Rs 50 lakh for the mega event that starts on Friday.

Elected representatives in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday criticised the organisers of Maharashtra Sahitya Sammelan for not inviting them for the 83rd Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan despite giving Rs 50 lakh for the mega event that starts on Friday.

“The PMC had handed over Rs 50 lakh for the sahitya sammelan as it is being held in the city,” said Congress leader Ulhas Bagul.

The donation was unconditional as the event brings pride to the city,he said adding that none of the pmc leader have got an official invitation for the event.

BJP leader Mukta Tilak criticised the organisers for not including name of BJP Rajya Sabha MP from city Prakash Jawadekar

“The Congress leaders are involved in organising the sahitya sammelan and they purposely keep the names of the BJP leaders in the invitiation card. We condemn it but won’t spoil the event,” she said. The PMC handing over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh for the event without seeking permission of state government has also become a issue as it is mandatory for civic body to do that for amount more than Rs 25 lakh that is donated to any organisation.
