No increase in property tax

The Pune Municipal Corporation has proposed not to increase the existing rates of property tax for the next financial year.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed not to increase the existing rates of property tax for the next financial year.

In a proposal tabled before the standing committee, the civic administration said the tax proposal for 2012-13 needs to be approved by the general body before Februrary 20. “The civic elections are scheduled in Februrary and election code of conduct would come into effect anytime. Thus,it is neccessary to get the proposal cleared before the election process,” said PMC tax assessment officer Vilas Kanade.

On continuing with the existing rate, the administration said there will be no rise in property tax rates as there was a need to recover the pending property tax dues. The entertainment tax would also not increase in the next financial year,it said.
