The city police have booked six persons for allegedly attempting to murder Sahid Tajuddin Patel (26) of Wadgaonsheri,a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) worker.
The accused Mahadev Eknath Shinde,Hamid Gani Shaikh,Kalya alias Aamir Shaikh,Suresh Baksha,Rahul Gaikwad and Manoj Jethiya,Shinde and Hamid have been arrested.
According to the police,Patel and the accused had a fight at Anand Park in Wadgaon Sheri around 10.30 am,following some old dispute.
Around 11.15 pm,the accused gathered at the office of Sukhakarta Pratishthan at Tempo Chowk in Wadgaon Sheri and assaulted Patel.
Patel sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital. He has lodged a complaint at the Yerwada police station.
Builder arrested,gets bail
THE Pune police on Tuesday night arrested builder Anil Sevlekar in another case for allegedly running his car on the journalists gathered outside the Sakaal newspaper office in Budhwar Peth on Saturday. He was however released on bail as per the court order.
A complaint in this regard was lodged against Sevelekar at the Vishrambaug police station on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Dnyaneshwar Phadtare said that Sevlekar was arrested but later released on bail. Sevelekar and his men had attacked journalists Yogesh Kute,the president of Pune Union of Working Journalists and Sandip Jagdale at his residence in Mundhwa on Saturday.
