More than 1,500 in Pune get free CPR training ahead of World Heart Day

Stating that over 1,500 people have been trained so far, the Medicover Hospitals said that it will soon conduct a series of free CPR training sessions, with special focus on "hands-only CPR".

More than 1,500 people including students received free training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as part of a nationwide campaign, by Medicover Hospitals in Indrayani Nagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad area, ahead of World Heart Day that will be observed on October 10.

Dr Prashant Shinde, consultant interventional cardiologist at Medicover Hospitals in Pune, said, “The fact that survival from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains lower than 10 per cent in most parts of the world is unacceptable… Research has shown that with immediate CPR and AED use after SCA, survival can be improved… to 70 per cent…”

Stating that over 1,500 people have been trained so far, the Medicover Hospitals said that it will soon conduct a series of free CPR training sessions, with special focus on “hands-only CPR”.
