Material cost of mid-day meals increased from March 1
For primary students, out of the Rs 6.19, Rs 3.83 will be used for expenditure on supply of food grain while Rs 2.36 will be used on expenditure on fuel and vegetables.

The state government came out with a resolution on Tuesday announcing that keeping in line with the Union government’s decision, it has increased the material cost for midday meals under the PM Poshan scheme from March 1.
In November last year, the Union Ministry of Education increased the material cost for midday meals from Rs 5.45 to Rs 6.19 per primary school student, and from Rs 8.17 to Rs 9.29 for every upper primary student.
For primary students, out of the Rs 6.19, Rs 3.83 will be used for expenditure on supply of food grain while Rs 2.36 will be used on expenditure on fuel and vegetables. For upper primary, Rs 5.75 will be spent on supply of food grain while Rs 3.54 will be spent on fuel and vegetables.
