Temperature continued to dip on Sunday with the minimum reaching 9.9 degrees Celsius the lowest of the season so far and over four degrees below the average.
A dip in mercury was recorded across the state on Sunday. The lowest temperature in Maharashtra was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius in Beed and 9.7 degrees Celsius at Nashik,with Pune ranking third.
On Saturday,the lowest temperature was recorded at 10.9 degrees Celsius,lowest of the season till then. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 28.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning.
An official with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 10 degrees in the next 24 hours before climbing up to 11 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of the city is also expected to be around 29 degrees Celsius or a bit lower.
The continuous dip in the temperature in the city has been attributed to the wind patterns in northern India.
The minimum temperature in Mahabaleshwar,a hill station in Satara district,was recorded at 13 degrees Celsius,as per an IMD report.
