Master yoga classes by BKS Iyengar
Noted Yoga Guru BKS Iyengar recently in Moscow conducted advanced classes for yoga students and teachers. Students from Russia,Europe and America attended the classes. The week long course was held as a part of the tour of Moscow which was conducted by the Moscow based Publication Yoga Journal
Speaking about the course,Iyengar said,A total of Four Master classes were conducted and a team of hand picked Yoga teachers had accompanied me on the tour,in order to teach the master classes for the students.
In addition to the students wife of late president Boris Yeltsin,Naina Yeltsin was also present for the course.
Cornerstone laying ceremony
Iskcon will be holding the cornerstone laying ceremony for a grand traditional balaji temple today at 5 pm. The occasion will be graced by international spiritual leaders of ISKCON. His grace Radheshyam Das,president,ISKCON,Pune has invited all Puneites to participate in the ceremony and receive the blessings of Lord Balaji. Finance minister Shri Dilip Walase Patil and forest minister babanrao Pachpute will also be present.
Medical treatment for senior citizens
The Rotary Club of Pune Central recently received a huge grant of Rs 10.8 lakhs from the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor,USA so that under this Matching Grant the club can perform operations like Corneal transplants,Intra Ocular Lens transplants,operations for enlargement of Prostrate Glands and treating Kidney Stones for senior citizens at subsidized rates. Dr. Subhodh Shivde (urologist),Dr,Shrikanth Joshi (ophthalmologist) and Dr Harish Saxena were present for the launch of the grant at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital on April 29. In addition to this a discussion on the book written by Dr. Saxena You Live Only Once was also held.
From past and future
Schooling is not all about books,homework and exams it is much beyond that. And going by this,Roots to Wings,a pre-school has come up with a concept of seven-petals and inculcating new innovative technique from the old system of education. The seven petals model stresses on holistic development of child. There are seven different corners in school named after the purpose,like- socio-emotional petal,linguistic development petal,gross motor development and fine development petal and others. These are to take care of development of the child in al respect. Moreover,we are coming up with innovative ideas but not at the cost of Indian ethos,which is an important part of the teaching method in the school, says Meghna Shah,head,Roots to Wings.
Spiritual Programme
The Sword of the Spirit Church,which meets at YMCA every month,conducted a special Praise and worship program entitled Times of Refreshing. The program was held to offer thanks and praise to the lord and was the second such program held in recent times. It was conducted at the Shanti Sunder Hall in YMCA on Saturday at seven pm in the evening.
