The month of May might just mean a lot of people registering a lot of complaints about the blistering heat. But if you confront the scorching sun and venture out,the fifth month of the year also brings along a list of exclusives from days to events and attributes. With such events as May Day and May Queen Balls part of its itinerary,the month embodies many diverse concepts. A popular variety of lily,known as the Mayflower,also borrows the prefix from this month.
Internationally as well,May is 30 days of special occasions. For instance,in Argentina,the May Revolution day falls on May 25. The second Sunday of May also happens to be the Mothers Day. Although big shows have seemed bleak this season,whenever they have happened,May has been the pet month for many. It is the last month of summer and its sunshine and the brilliance makes it a special month. The vivacity of the month makes it synonymous with beauty pageants and fashion events. We have had so many competitions happening around this time for years now. In fact,winters should be more convenient to hold pageants,but this month spells romance and attractiveness globally. So,according to me that calls for several glamorous episodes, says Ewa Maria Cherukuru,international ballroom dance instructor.
Although May connotes excitement and exuberance,it begins on a serious note. The May Day,which is marked along with Maharashtra Divas,continues to question the rights of the working class. Elaborating on its significance,Mukta Manohar,general secretary,PMC Labour Union says,The labour movement is disturbed even now; there is a lot to be done in this sector but some people have stopped questioning even the significance of the day which has a long,illustrious past.
