Marathi film fest from May 23

On the occasion of the 46th Marathi Film Awards function,the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal,in collaboration with Maharashtra Rajya Sanskritik Sanchalanalaya,has organised a seven-day Marathi film festival from May 23 to 29.

On the occasion of the 46th Marathi Film Awards function,the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM),in collaboration with Maharashtra Rajya Sanskritik Sanchalanalaya,has organised a seven-day Marathi film festival from May 23 to 29.

Elaborating on the festival,Ajay Sarpotdar,president,ABMCM,said,“Marathi film industry is booming with films divided in two sections — while one section is sensitive and meaningful cinema,the other section is about light,commercial cinema. With this festival,we aim to provide a common platform to both the genres.”

The festival will be inaugurated by veteran Marathi actors Ramesh and Seema Deo at 4 pm on May 23 at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch in the presence of State Cultural Minister Harshawardhan Patil and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. The inaugural film — Harishchandrachi Factory — will be screened soon after the function.

The festival will screen over 25 films in three venues — CityPride,Kothrud and Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch. Some of the films that will be screened include Tingya,Valu,Evdhasa Abhal,Vasudev Balwant Phadke,Checkmate,Jogwa,Me Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy,Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad and Uladhal.

“They also include 10 films nominated for awards this year and five blockbusters that ran more than 10 weeks in theatres,” he said. Agnidivya,a film by city-based director Ajit Shirole,will be premiered at the festival.

The tickets will be available at Balgandharva Rang Mandir,Ganesh Kala Krida Rang Manch and CityPride,Kothrud.
