Mango crop could suffer too

The sudden rains and prolonged winters have affected the mango crop for the year also.

The sudden rains and prolonged winters have affected the mango crop for the year also. This being the flowering season for mangoes, about 70 per cent of the crop in Pune region has been damaged. Ratnagiri has seen temperature dipping below 12°C. “We still have fog here, which gives rise to insects. Sometimes, rain at this time of the year helps as the size increases, but if they continue for some more time,we will incur losses,” said Yogesh Desai,a mango grower in Pune.
