A 25-year-old salesman,Poreddy Appala Naidy,alias Lokesh,working at a retail outlet in Hyderabad was arrested by the Pune police on Saturday for allegedly making bomb hoax calls to IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on March 31 this year. He was earlier arrested by the Hyderabad police for making a series of similar calls to various other IT companies in the country.
Naidu was produced in holiday magistrate court in Pune on Saturday and was remanded in police custody till Monday. Assistant Public Prosecutor A K Pacharne submitted to the court that Naidus custodial interrogation is required to probe if he has links with any international criminal organisations.
Naidu hails from Bhamini Mandal of Srikakulam district. He was working as a salesman at Reliance Living outlet at Banjara Hills,Hyderabad. He had created panic in Infosys and TCS in their Hyderabad,Bangalore,Pune and Chandigarh offices through his hoax calls on March 30 and 31.
According to police,Naidu had sent emails to several media houses on his views on military,police,government with comments on present system of government and the Constitution. As he did not get any response from the media,he planned to create sensation to prove his existence by making the hoax calls.
He procured landline numbers of all branches of Infosys and TCS in the country on March 30 and sent e-mails from Star Internet Cafe situated in Kukatpally Housing Board Colony,Hyderabad,and made hoax bomb threat calls from his cell phone no 86883 10584.
Assistant police inspector A D Sonawane of Yerawada police station,investigating the case,said,On March 31,Naidu called TCS office on Ahmednagar Road and threatened to kill all employees by planting bombs at its offices across India. The Hyberabad police tracked Naidu and arrested him on April 2 along with some hand written papers containing derogatory remarks on state and central governments.
On Saturday he was handed over to Pune police. Naidu is arrested for offences unders ection 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act,2000.
