The police registered a case of accidental death at the Yerwada police station and began an investigation. (Pune) A 37-year-old man drowned in the swimming pool of the Divisional Sports Complex in Pune’s Yerwada Sunday afternoon. The police identified the deceased as Girish Sandip Sutar, a resident of Munjaba Wasti in Dhanori.
The police said Sutar went to the swimming pool with his family members. As he started drowning, they cried for help and the lifeguards at the spot fished him out of the pool.
He was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead. The police said Sutar knew swimming, and the exact cause of his death was being ascertained. His body was taken to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident, on May 17, a youth, identified as Rahul Mahantappa Waghmode, drowned in a swimming pool in the Chikhali area of Pimpri-Chinchwad. An offence of negligence was lodged at the Chikhali police station against the lifeguards and the management officials at the pool.
On May 12, Krushna Ganesh Shinde, 16, drowned at a swimming pool on the premises of a private school in Hadapsar.
