Man attacked with sharp weapon while dancing at Ganesh procession

The Pune police have launched a probe to identify and arrest the accused who allegedly attacked the 23-year-old man during the Ganesh immersion procession.

A man was attacked with a sharp weapon while he was dancing at a Ganesh immersion procession on Tilak road in Pune city on Tuesday night. Police have identified the victim as Kunal Parmeshwar Bansode (23), resident of Gultekdi.

Swapnil More (23), also a resident of Gultekdi area, lodged an FIR in this case at the Swargate police station on Wednesday.

Police have booked the unidentified assailant under section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the victim Kunal and the complainant Swapnil were dancing at a Ganesh immersion procession on Tilak Road. The unidentified accused, who was also present at the spot, accused Kunal of pushing him when they were dancing near Gokhale hospital. The accused then began beating Kunal. Police said Swapnil tried to intervene but the accused attacked Kunal with a sharp weapon, leaving him in a pool of blood. The victim was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police sub inspector Subhash Rathod, the investigation officer said, the accused has not been identified yet. A probe is on, he said.
