Malian tunes
As a teenager,Fatoumata Diawara left her home in Mali and moved to France to become an actor. She appeared in a few films and theatre productions,but it was much later when she found her true calling in music. I wanted to be able to travel with my music,to be able to take Malian music to many different parts of the world, says Diawara,who will perform in the city at the Blue Frog amphitheatre on Friday. The concert will also feature The Erik Truffaz Quartet with internationally-acclaimed jazz trumpet player,Truffaz.

For Grown-Ups on Wednesday at Crossword Bookstore,Amanora Town Centre,feels that Indians are still hesitant to talk about sex. Coming from the land of Kamasutra,we were once a very liberated culture. So when did we become so prudish in our thinking? he asks. In his debut book,Nagpal brings 18 titillating desi tales which he says are wickedly naughty and funny. Through his very explicit narration of the different situational stories,Nagpal hopes to find a connection with readers.
