Maharashtra SSC exam begins tomorrow, over 16 lakh candidates to appear

Over 16 lakh students will take the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) that is set to begin on February 21, Friday.

The examination that is being held at 4,130 examination centres will start with language papers, authorities said.

Out of the 16,11,610 students from 23,492 secondary schools registered for the examination, 8,64,120 are boys, 7,47,471 girls, and 19 transgender candidates, marking a gap in the gender ratio.

In Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Division 1,89,379 students are taking the exams, while Amravati has 1,63,714, Nagpur 1,51,509, Kolhapur 1,32,672, Latur 1,09,004, and Konkan 27,398.

Elaborating on the arrangements taken for the examination, Sharad Gosavi, Director of Education (Primary Education) Maharashtra, said that 1.8 lakh staff would be deployed for the exams and those entrusted with the task of taking the question papers to the exam halls would be tracked using their mobile GPS locations. They have been asked to shoot a video of question papers being handed over to the exam centre director.
