Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde inaugurates 100th Marathi Natya Sammelan, calls it his destiny

The historical Marathi Natya Sammelan is taking place at the Shri Morya Gosavi Sankul in Chinchwad. Premchand Gajvi, who was the president of the 99th Marathi Natya Sammelan, NCP national president Sharad Pawar, Industry Minnier Udya Samant, Maval MP Shrirang Barne and Dr Jabbar Patel, president of the 100th Marathi Natya Sammelan, president of the Marathi Natya president Prashant Damle and District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister, similar to what he had said in the past, told the gathering that in politics, sometimes courageous decisions are taken. “And we took such a decision one and half years back. It has become a historical decision,” he said. The CM was referring to the split that he engineered in the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray to join hands with the BJP.

Shinde further said, “Actors perform their role. It provides a healing touch. If we purchase a ticket to watch the plays, it is tantamount to appreciating the skills of the performers.”

Praising the organisers, Shinde said, “This is a grand event. It is not easy to sustain such events for 100 years. This has happened because Marathi manoos loves dramas and plays. Marathi fans have an attachment with the theatre.”
