Lt Gen D P Singh takes charge of military intelligence training unit, Army officer daughters pin his new rank

Promotions coupled with challenging appointments are always major milestones for Army officers. But adjectives like heartwarming, emotional, and inspiring can rightly be added to the moment when an officer gets to mark it with two daughters who also happen to be Army officers.

Lieutenant General D P Singh, who was recently promoted to the three-star rank and assumed the prestigious command of the Pune-based Military Intelligence Training School and Depot (MINTSD), proudly got to live the above adjectives. The Army described the event as ‘rare and inspiring’ and said it “highlights the spirit of Nari Shakti within the Armed Forces”.

In a post on X on Sunday, the Army Training Command said , “In a rare and inspiring moment, which marked a significant milestone in the career of Lt Gen DP Singh, SM, the officer was proudly pipped by his two daughters, both serving officers in the Indian Army on his recent promotion and appointment as Commandant of Military Intelligence Training School and Depot, MINTSD, Pune.”

The Army Training Command further said in the post. “This historic occasion not only reminds the strength, dedication, legacy carried forward by women in uniform but also highlights the spirit of Nari Shakti within our Armed Forces.”

Lt Gen DP Singh took over the command from Lt Gen Pradeep Kumar Chahal, AVSM, superannuated from the appointment of Commandant MINTSD two days ago after serving the nation and Indian Army for almost four decades.

Pune-based MINTSD is a premier intelligence training establishment and conducts courses at various levels for those serving in the Indian military intelligence ecosystem on related subjects.
