Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday sought the blessings of the citizens to fulfill the assurance of making the country the third powerful economy of the world.

“It is my guarantee that in my next term, I will bring the country among the top three economies of the world. And I will be able to do so only because of the blessings of the people,” Modi said in a rally after dedicating houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to families working in the unorganised sectors in Solapur.

He took a dig at the Congress, saying that the earlier governments only used to raise slogans of poverty alleviation while most of the allocated money used to go into the leaders’ pockets. “We are committed to upliftment of the poor and have proved it in the last ten years. We believe in the dignity of labourers and thus we have provided houses to the labourers,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of eight AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects worth around Rs 2,000 crore in Maharashtra.

Modi dedicated more than 90,000 houses completed under the PMAY-Urban in Maharashtra.

Further, he dedicated 15,000 houses at the RAY Nagar Housing Society in Solapur, whose beneficiaries comprise thousands of handloom workers, vendors, powerloom workers, rag pickers, bidi workers, drivers and others.

Modi also kickstarted the distribution of the first and second instalments to 10,000 beneficiaries of the PM-SVANIDHI in Maharashtra during the programme.
