The Khadakwasla dam which has a water storage capacity of 1.97 TMC reached its brim on Saturday evening following good rainfall in the catchment area this week.
The dam is now 100 per cent full. We are releasing water from the dam into the Mutha bank canal,which will supply water to the city and other towns. The department will continue to release water for the next five days, said an irrigation department official.
The discharge will enable the Pune Municipal Corporation to lift additional water for the city.
The collective water storage in the four dams that supply water to the city rose to above 50 per cent on Saturday. As recorded on Saturday evening,Panshet dam has 51% water,Varasgaon 46 % and Temghar 34 %.
