Kanishq shocks Dani,Xiaoyu hammers Das

Harshil Dani,the top seed in the men’s singles crashed to a surprise defeat against M Kanishq,while the top seeded mixed-doubles pair of Ravuri Santosh and S Ram Poorvish were downed by Sanyam Shukla and J Meghana in the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial Junior International badminton tournament on Saturday. The series is being played at the PDMBA complex.

In the men’s singles semifinal,Dani and Kanishq played a marathon match before the latter finally triumphed 21-19,16-21,21-8. In the other semifinal,Aditya Joshi defeated Dharmamer Kaushal 21-10,21-9 to set up a summit clash with Kanishq.

In the women’s singles semifinal,Liang Xiaoyu of Singapore,seeded second,made short work of third seed Rituparna Das. The girl from Singapore beat Das 21-9,21-9 to enter the final. In the second semifinal,G Ruthvika Shivani,the top seed,hammered Shreyanshi Pardeshi 21-9,21-7.

Sanyam Shukla and J Meghna ran out victors against the top seeds Santosh and Poorvisha 21-17,22-20. In the other semifinal,K P Chaitanya and D Sudha Kalyani lost to Saurabh Sharma and K Maneesha 21-14,21-13.
