Jai and sibling Kaustubh Devkar,Atharva Sharma,Rohan Ghuge,Sharanya Gaware ,Neha Ghare ,Piyush Salelakr and Akash Bhujang scored creditable wins to enter the finals in their respective age groups at the Champion Sports Trophy Junior Tennis Championships on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by the Navasahyadri Krida Sankul.
In the Boys under-9 event Jai Devkar from PCMC won 8-6 against Sarvesh Purke to set up a clash with Akash Bhujang. Bhujang earlier defeated Girish Chaugule with ease. Jai’s elder brother Kautubh Devkar scored a 8-5 win over Gavin Francis to make it to the Boys under 13 finals. He will face Rohan Ghuge who won his sixth match in row. Ghuge accounted for Sanket Awale winning 8-6 in the semis.
In the Girls under-9 semifinals Shranya Gaware outplayed Isha Karnawat 7-0 to set up a title clash with Neha Ghare who beat Riya Wayal 7-1.
In the Boys under-11 event semifinals Atharva Sharma defeated Atharva Ghatpande 8-4 and will clash with Piyush Salelkar in the finals tomorrow.
Salelkar scraped past Arjun Mahajan 8-7(7-3) to make it to the finals.
