Shailash Jaiswar won the 40th edition of the Sunday Rapid Chess Championship organised jointly by the Pune District Chess Association and the Global Mind Sports Foundation on Sunday. Shailesh has a total of 95 points now and is leading the race for the overall championship. Kiran Panditrao is close behind with 91 points.
Jaiswar earned six-and-a-half points and won himself Rs 1,500 and a trophy while Kapil Kohana came in second after notching up 5.5 points/23.5 Buch. Pushkaraj Bedekar came in third with 5.5 points and 21 Buch. The Under-10 trophy was awarded to Harshit Raja of Symbiosis School; the Under-14 trophy went to Nikhil Dixit of Ramanbaug New English School; the ladies’ trophy was given to Akanksha Hagawane of DES School and the best veteran’s trophy was bagged by Prakash Karmarkar.
