Jaiswar wins rapid chess tourney

Shailesh Jaiswar won the 37th Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship title with a total of 5 points,narrowly edging out rival Kiran Panditrao who came in second with 4 points 14 buch.

Shailesh Jaiswar won the 37th Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship title with a total of 5 points,narrowly edging out rival Kiran Panditrao who came in second with 4 points 14 buch. Jaiswar and Panditrao are now neck and neck,having won eight titles apiece.

The number of rounds was reduced due to two other simultaneous tournaments in the city,resulting in a lower turnout. A “blitz” round was organized after the main tournament,which was won by Panditrao. A total of 22 players took part in the championship,out of which 10 were rated.

Other prizes which were given out were the best under-10 trophy,won by Atreya Mandnikar and best under-14 which was one by Siddhant Gaikwad. Aakanksha Hagawane won the ladies trophy,while CN Bhadbhade won the veterans trophy. The next edition of the championship will be held at the same venue on the 31 st of January.
