IT cricket: HSBC,Siemens win

Teams from HSBC Global Technologies,Siemens,Symantec and Amdocs registered easy victories in their league matches against Sungard,Cybage,Persistent Systems and ClearPoint respectively in the ‘Clash of 24 Inter-IT Cricket Tournament’ on Sunday.

In the first of the day’s four matches on the Poona Club Ground,HSBC won the toss against Sungard and elected to bat first. The decision paid off as HSBC managed to post a massive total of 181 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Pradeep Bhaganna scored an impressive 90 runs off 42 balls with 12 fours and three towering sixes. The fifth wicket partnership between him and Navid Shrinivas of 49 runs in 40 balls and the seventh wicket partnership between Pradeep Bhaganna and Nalin Kamboj of 53 runs in 23 balls set the pace for the innings. In reply,Sungard came out to bat with a positive attitude and the innings saw some impressive contributions: Praful Pathak 38 (31 balls,4 fours and 1 six),Amit Narnaware 33 (30 balls,4 fours and 1 six) and Aditya Kulkarni 22 (17 balls 5 fours).The fourth wicket partnership between Praful Pathak and Amit Narnaware of 72 runs in 55 balls threatened to take the game away from HSBC but they held their nerve to win the match by 18 runs.

In another match,Siemens lost the toss to Cybage who managed to score 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Siemens reached the target in 18 overs for the loss of four wickets.
