Raising a toast to all things Irish,St Patricks Day will be celebrated in pubs across the city with a drinking festival.
Its that time of the year again time to dust off any green outfits, accessorise with some more green and add on perhaps a few brushes of gold. On Sunday, the annual celebration of St Patricks Day will begin, giving a new meaning to the phrase Go Green. Pubs across Pune will join the world in celebrating the Irish drinking festival, with food and drinks inspired by the country. The eponymous Irish House has planned a day-long carnival on Sunday and all-day happy hours on all Irish beers, whiskeys and cocktails. Revellers who dress up in Irish costumes or green outfits will stand a chance to win a trip for two to Ireland in the Luck of the Irish contest, while drinking challenges such as Beer Pong,Belly Busters and Chug Olympics will bring out more Irish cheer.
On Saturday,Hard Rock Café (HRC) will resonate with famous Irish songs such as Shipping up to Boston,Whiskey in the jar and Drunken sailor, while patrons compete for titles such as Fastest Drinker and Best Costume. Flambos and HRC will both be serving special green beer. Winning is slightly easier at WTF and Terttulia, where those dressed in green will be welcomed with a complimentary green cocktail.
Flambos also has unlimited beer and a special dinner menu on offer on Sunday. High Spirits Cafe will also be clad in green on Sunday,as the Norwegian band,Mathias Stubø,perform for revellers. The green theme continues with the food menu for the day, with specials such as creamed spinach, buttered peas and minted slaw.
