Inspector transferred for releasing accused

A police inspector attached to Faraskhana police has been transferred out of the police station for releasing an accused for some time without following adequate procedure. A departmental inquiry has now been ordered in the matter.

Inspector (crime) H S Bhapkar was transferred out of Faraskhana police station on Thursday. Dnyeneshwar Phadtare,deputy commissioner of police (zone I),under whose jurisdiction the police station comes,said,“It was found that one of the accused in the custody of Faraskhana police station was released for some time without following proper procedures. This was a wrong move. He has been transferred out of the police station and an internal inquiry has been ordered.”

Sources with Faraskhana police station said that a man who was arrested under charges of trespassing was released for about an hour on Wednesday night and was locked again later. It could not be ascertained where Bhapkar was transferred.
