(Representational Photo) Forest department officials raided a nursery in Salunke Vihar area of Pune and rescued three protected Indian Flapshell Turtles and two Rose Ring Parakeets. A 36-year-old man was arrested in this regard.
After receiving a tip-off that some protected animal species were being held captive at a nursery in Salunke Vihar area, a team from the Forest department raised the premises on Monday and seized the Indian Flapshell Turtles, which are protected under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act, and two Rose Ring Parakeets, which fall under Schedule 2 of the Act.
An FIR was registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and the police arrested Vishal Sukhlal Yadav (36), a resident of Bibwewadi, in this regard. Yadav was produced before court and has been remanded in police custody.
