NCP leaders oppose property tax hike
Senior office bearers of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP),including Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal, have expressed discontent over the 11 per cent hike in property tax. “Tax evasion in the city amounts to nearly Rs 200 crore per year. Lack of coordination between PMC officers results in redundancy of work and two departments end up doing the same work, which is a waste of money,” he said.
Rajpal said he will try to control tax evasion and redundancy of work during his tenure to save undue expenditure by the civic body. “The PMC administration is solely responsible for the hike. It is time the civic body stops spending on non-development activities like festivals, giving sponsorship to various events and so on,” Kakade said.
