Seminar on agro-industry jobs
The College of Agriculture,Pune will organise a seminar on agro-industry placement of Master of Business Management (Agriculture) students at the college on March 7. This post graduate degree was started in 2008 to quench the needs of the industry,especially the agro-industry,by training students to acquire the necessary expertise,knowledge and skill sets which would not only meet the demands of the industry but also make them resourceful agribusiness management professionals. The degree programme is modelled on the modules of the top business schools of India,said a press release. The agri management students are mostly preferred by various agro-industries and corporate sectors such as agro-processing,seeds and fertiliser industries,dairy industries,bio-technology,post harvest technologies and in financial sectors like public and private sector banks,NGOs,maketing institutes,export import trading corporations,and farm machinery industries,the release said.

Award for Jadhav
Scientist Jitendra Jadhav,who hails from Pune and now works at DRDO Bangalore,has been awarded the ‘DRDO scientist of the year award’ for 2008. He works at the Aeronautical Development Agency. Jadhav,who studied at NMV School and completed his Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Pune,was awarded for ‘Design and Development of Safety Critical Weapon Management System for Tejas-Light Combat Air Craft (LCA) Programme’. According to the citation,the product has significantly reduced development and maintenance costs and minimised the risk of obsolescence. ENS
