The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will set up 1,200 booths across the city to carry out a pulse polio drive in the city on January 10.

The civic body has made preparations to give vaccine to 3,45,884 children up to age of five years. A total of 1,200 booths would be set up and three social workers would be stationed at each booth,said a press note. A total of 3,550 social workers,240 supervisors,110 doctors,14 ward medical officers will carry out the drive along with nurses of civic hospitals,private doctors,nursing and medical college students.

Transit booths will be made available for the children arriving in the city. They can get vaccine at PMPML bus stands,State Transport Bus stand,Railway station,octroi check post,garden and airport. The mobile booths will move at various construction sites.

‘Civic body plans separate market for SHG products’

THE Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will set up a separate market for the sale of products prepared by self-help groups (SHGs),said Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal here on Thursday.

Rajpal inaugurated the five day fair of SHGs at Balgandharva Rang Mandir. The fair has been simultaneously started at P L Deshpande Park,Vadgaonsheri also. SHGs should ensure quality of products and take up new products that would meet the demands of common citizens,he said. The success of SHGs will help in empowering the poor,he said.
