The Indrani Balan Science Activity Centre at IISER Pune is once again igniting the spirit of Diwali by bringing a touch of mathematics and science to the festival of lights.

For the past six years, the center has been designing captivating activities for both students and teachers, making math and science more engaging. They have already made lanterns using platonic solids and archimedean solids in the last two years.

This year, they have introduced three new solids, the Rhombic Dodecahedron, Pentagonal Dipyramid, and Square Trapezohedron, to create Diwali lanterns that will illuminate homes.

By exploring these geometrical wonders, students can enjoy the festive season while learning and having fun, says Ashok Rupner, senior technical officer at the centre.
