Defeated NCP candidates from Maval and Shirur Azam Pansare and Vilas Lande have been “missing” after the elections results. While Pansare remains unheard of,Lande today issued a statement, accepting his defeat.

“I accept the people’s mandate,” said Lande who was decimated by Shiv Sena’s Shivaji Adhalrao Patil with a massive margin of 1.78 lakh votes. Lande said he will rectify the “mistakes” and will continue to serve the people in future.

“I do not hold anybody responsible for the defeat. I received full support and co-operation from the leaders and party workers of NCP,the Congress, the RPI,my well wishers, friends and relatives in the election campaign. I am highly obliged to those voters who showed trust in me and voted for me in the election. Though I have lost the election,I can continue to work for the people,as no post is required for that. I received lot of affection from the people in the Shirur constituency.”

Lande said the picture could have been different, had I received little more time for the preparation of the election. “My heartiest congratulations to my opponent Shivajirao Adhalrao. Without any party politics I am ready to help him in the development of Shirur constituency,” he stated.

Lande said failure is a stepping-stone to success. “This defeat has given me a chance for introspection. I’ll try to take lesson from this defeat and try to correct the mistakes. Though I have lost the election,I will continue working for the people.”
