Hungarian chef Gabor Schreiner says that the distinguishing ingredient of an amazing cook is his passion for food
While average teenagers would be dreaming of a summer love story,Gabor Schreiner,Executive Chef of Nobu Budapest, was holding a knife in his hand and dreaming about being in a kitchen full of Japanese ingredients. Schreiner,a Hungarian, was inspired by celebrated Japanese chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisas creativity and positive outlook towards food. Chef Nobu says that food is imbued with the feelings and personality of the cook. He advises every chef to put his heart into cooking. It has become my motto, says Schreiner, who will bring his culinary magic to the city.
This passion has taken him places. I have had the privilege of cooking for many royal families of Europe but my special memory is of a time about 10 years ago, when I cooked for the Japanese Emperor, who was visiting Hungary. That was a great challenge and opportunity, says Schreiner.
Being able to visit India and cook for its people is another opportunity that the chef has long looked forward to. I have heard a lot about Indian cuisine and how much people love to eat. Indian cuisine is both a culinary and a spiritual experience, he shares, adding that he is looking forward to trying traditional dishes that India has to offer.
The chef will be visiting Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat and Spa near Pune from May 31 to June 6
