Fergusson peon held for helping students cheat

Police said that the exam of a subject paper of the Computer Science stream was held on March 29. A few days later, the papers were collected at the Central Assessment Programme (CAP) centre of Fergusson College.

A probe has now revealed that six students had left blank spaces in their papers. And when the stacks of answer sheets came to the CAP centre, Shigwan allegedly stole their papers and gave it back to them for writing the answers.

A police officer said, “When it came to keeping those papers back from where they were stolen, Shigwan made a mistake because he got confused due to the bar codes. Thus, the papers did not reach the university and when the results were declared, the students were marked absent.”

“Ironically, the students themselves approached the university which brought to light the crime. Shigwan has been arrested and we would take a decision on what action to be taken against the students and how they would be charged,” the officer said.
