The popular Marathi play,Nava Gadi Nava Rajya,is now all set to grace the big screen. The play,a tale about a group of youngsters, has found appeal across the country, and even in places like London and Dubai. “People often asked us to turn it into a movie,so we finally decided on going ahead with that plan,” says Kshitij Patwardhan, writer of the play. The film is a joint venture between 24 Carat Productions and Pratisaad Productions. “This simple family movie has no grand message. It is just a story from the life of a young couple, which I feel identifies with the youth, with its balance of emotional and lighter moments,” says Saurabh Gadgil, head of 24 Carat Productions. Actors Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat will star in the film, just as they did in the play. “The character of Amruta is just like me. I have been a part of the play, and once I read the script for the movie,I knew I just had to do it,” says Bapat.
