Exhibiting Handiwork

Cotton and Silk Spectrum Exhibition,Weaves,is on at Alpa Bachat Bhavan,behind Council Hall,till August 19,11 am to 9 pm. The exhibition has been organised with the aim to help handloom weavers from various parts of India by creating a platform for them to directly access customers. Organised by Revathi Creative Communications,Weaves showcases Coimbatore cottons,Chettinads of Tamil Nadu,Maheshwari of Madhya Pradesh,Sambalpuri cotton of Orissa and Manipuri cotton. The variety of print and embroidery includes tie-and-dye of Rajasthan,bandhej embroidery of Gujarat,batiks of Madhya Pradesh and kalamkari work of Andhra Pradesh.
