National Association For The Welfare of Physically Challenged together with Snehankit Association For The Non Seeing Friends organised a felicitation ceremony. The function was organised to laud the efforts by some visually challenged students who had achieved high scores in academics. 18 -year- old Chindu Gadhe,student of Wadia College of Arts stood first in his class with a score of 76% in the recent HSC examination while Shubham Pawar,16- year- old student of New English School,Tilak Road scored 85% in the SSC examination. Dasaram Rane from Adarsh College of Education,Karve Road,scored 76% in B. Ed and stood second in his class whereas Nandkishor Dhuldhar,a student from Ferguson College stood first in his class of B.A (Economics) with a score of 72%. Vidyu Vidyuarkhedkar,Deputy Collector and Sunil Gokhale,retired Brigadier were the chief guest. I am deeply inspired by the achievements of these children. I feel my achievement of becoming a DCP is nothing compared their efforts, said Varkhedkar. President of the Association,Rahul Deshmukh said, These children are from financially weak backgrounds. They have to fight financial struggles along with sight impairment. We believe their efforts to overcome these struggles need to be felicitated and encouraged.
