Pune: SSPU VC credits team effort got improved NIRF rank

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune ranked 42 in the overall category, Symbiosis International University ranked 52 overall and 31 in university category, with Symbiosis Law School and Symbiosis Institute of Business Management ranked 5 in law and 13 in management, respectively.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has ranked third in the state public university category, according to the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 announced on Monday. SPPU has ranked 37 in overall category and 23 in university category.

“In the NIRF 2024, SPPU has been ranked third in the country for its academic excellence and research performance in the state public university category. Members of the management council of the university, members of the general assembly, members of the academic council and members of various authority boards have an important contribution in the development process of the university. Also, due to the contribution of students, professors, non-teaching staff, all officers and employees of the university and affiliated colleges, the university has achieved a good position in the national ranking,” said Suresh Gosavi, Vice Chancellor, SPPU.

Dr D Y Patil Vidyapeeth ranked 63 overall and 44 among universities. It achieved notable rankings in the medical (11) and dental (5) categories. Fergusson College, one of the oldest colleges in the city, ranked 45 among colleges.

In engineering, the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology and COEP Technological University ranked 63 and 77, respectively. In the pharmacy category, Poona College of Pharmacy and Dr D Y Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research ranked 35 and 36, respectively.

The NIRF assesses institutions across several parameters, including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. These rankings provide a detailed evaluation of the performance of educational institutions across various disciplines.
