Rajendra Kelshikar and Ravish Arora,directors of a new hotel management academy describe their practical approach towards teaching the subject of food
Filling the gap between needs and demands,Pune gets another hotel management and culinary academy at Hadapsar to add to it’s list of versatile educational institutions. Red Carpet Hotel and Culinary Academy,a hotel management and culinary arts academy at Hadapsar Industrial Estate,is being managed by its directors – Rajendra Kelshikar and Ravish Arora – who are established professionals in the hotel business.
Their USP is their approach towards teaching the appetising subject of food. We don’t preach or teach; we set an example by practising the art and inspiring the students to follow, says Kelshikar. Our aim is to provide the industry with chefs and hotel management graduates who are equipped with the latest knowledge and trends of the art. It aims at providing an avenue for students to learn,hone and fine tune their skill and passion for cooking and hospitality, he adds.
The institute is equipped with a culinary studio,bakery,patisserie section,a chocolaterie,a restaurant,a library,a front office classroom and a lab. And each facility churns out delicious treats and adds to the students’ practical knowledge.
Launched by Inn Venue Hospitality Management Pvt Ltd,a company that runs well-known city food spots – Hotel Deccan Rendezvous,Polka Dots Restaurants and Baker’s Basket,the academy has also tied up with Edexcel UK. It will offer degree programmes in Hotel Management and Culinary Arts,where a two year advanced programme will be conducted at the Redcarpet Academy in Pune and the third year progression to degree continues in UK at Cavendish College London. This enables a student to get an international degree without spending a huge amount of money, the directors add.
Moreover,as a branch of an established business set up in hospitality business,Red Carpet Academy is in tune with constantly changing business practices and approaches in the international hotel business. This will prove to be a major gain for the students at the academy and they will be in a better position to face the future industry challenges, feels Kelshikar.
