Elderly man found dead at Sinhagad Fort in Pune

Police said the deceased is around 60 years old.

A senior citizen was found dead in the historic Sinhagad Fort area on Sunday. Pune rural police have launched a probe and attempts are on to identify the deceased, police said.

On Sunday morning, some tourists and security guards spotted a senior citizen lying unconscious in the valley near the Zunjar Buruj in Sinhagad Fort police said.

The local police, forest department staff and emergency response team rushed to the spot and removed the man’s body in the afternoon.

Police said the deceased is around 60 years old. A bus ticket for Saturday, from Swargate to Donje route, was found in his pocket. “His identity is not confirmed yet,” said police inspector Rajesh Gawli of the Rajgad police station.

An accidental death report was lodged at Rajgad police station and police are investigating the cause of the death.
