An elderly couple living at a Dharmshala in Dehu Phata here was robbed of valuables worth Rs 55,000 in the early hours of Tuesday. Madhuri Suryakant Shelar (61) lodged a complaint with the Vishrantwadi police station.
According to the complaint,at around 1 am on Tuesday,four unidentified men knocked on the Dharmshala door. When Shelar opened the door,they forcibly entered and took away gold jewellery that she was wearing. They also demanded cash,but when her husband Suryakant Shelkar refused,they manhandled and injured him,after which he had to part with Rs 25,000.
