The Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) awarded 256 scholarships to needy and deserving girls at the 17th scholarship award function recently. The scholarships – postgraduate and undergraduate – were awarded by S B Mujumdar,Founder President and Vice Chancellor of Symbiosis International University, Per Heggenes,the Chief Executive Officer of IKEA Foundation and Vandana Chavan,Rajya Sabha MP. Eight girls received scholarships in the overseas category while 73,mostly from rural areas,received scholarships for pursuing a full course. As many as 36 girls pursuing graduation in engineering were also awarded scholarships,and 19 scholarships were given to science students with a commitment to support their graduation programme. The tertiary newsletter of the foundation,INSPIRA,was also released on the occasion.
GTT announces new academia initiative
Global Talent Track (GTT) has announced an academia initiative to set up Center of Excellence for Engineering Services at Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT),Rajaramnagar. This is the first initiative in Western Maharashtra where GTT will provide quality training to students of RIT on PLM software provided by Siemens PLM Software,enabling them to prepare for careers in engineering services sector. Indias engineering services sector is in the midst of vigorous action with exports of engineering services slated to touch $ 25-30 billion. There is a need to bridge the gap between the academia and the industry and ensure ready deployment in regular work streams, said Pravir Kumar,Vice President,Global Talent Track. Also,present on the occasion were Vivek Marwaha,director of marketing,Siemens PLM Software India,Bhaskar Prasad,senior director Siemens PLM Software and S S Kulkarni,Director RIT.
Next Education bags award at summit
Next Education India Pvt Ltd has received the prestigious award for Best Multi-Media Content for K-12 Education at the World Education Summit-2012 that concluded in New Delhi. The company won the award for its product TeachNext. It was presented by Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay at a ceremony on Monday. Business School gets nod for MBA courses
